The Country Representative in Yemen will be responsible for executing a Family Planning/Reproductive Health activity on site on behalf of the Catalyst Consortium and in accordance with the mandates of the USAID Mission in Yemen. S/he will have two broad areas of responsibility in managerial oversight of a FP/RH service delivery program and provision of technical assistance in FP/RH service delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes full responsibility for planning, directing, and managing all aspects of the country office and program.
- Leads a team of technical advisors and works closely with USAID stakeholders, local ministries, NGOs, and the private commercial sector.
- Guides subproject administration to meet project responsibilities in accordance with USAID regulations.
- Provides daily management, technical advice, routine troubleshooting and assistance to meet requirements.
- Serves as the FP/RH Advisor on the Yemen Team
- Provides overall technical guidance for developing reproductive health service delivery
strategies with other project staff, in a manner that reflects a project-wide strategy while accommodating proven country-specific approaches.
- Leads technical advisor on clinical and non-clinical services, and other health prevention activities in Yemen, within the program's scope and context.
- Coordinates and collaborates with local partners to develop capacity in the design, management, and monitoring of programs that link family planning clinical services with other health and non-health activities, including post-partum services.
- Assesses organizational, technical and training needs and disseminates best practices for reproductive health services in clinical and non-clinical settings.
- Liaises closely with other USAID-supported health programs and with other donors having particular involvement with FP/RH services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the field of family planning and reproductive health
- M.D., experienced nurse, or nurse midwife preferred
- Long-term experience working in developing countries
- MPH or related master's degree
- Knowledge and understanding of USAID administrative procedures
- Ability to write and speak English
- Fluent Arabic strongly preferred
