CATALYST Consortium and Meridian Group International, Inc. facilitated a partnership between HRA Pharma, Sued Pharmaceutica and PROFAMILIA Dominican Republic to introduce, distribute and promote HRA Pharma’s emergency contraceptive pill (ECP), Norlevo, in the private sector of the Dominican Republic. As a result of this collaboration, pharmacies and health clinics are expanding the method mix by introducing a new ECP to the medical community, as well as providing affordable emergency contraceptive options to low-income women. Since the beginning of its launch in August 2004, Norlevo has been well received by the Santo Domingo and Santiago medical community; training for pharmaceutical clerks and medical promotion campaigns are in progress. Over 3000 Norlevo packets have been sold and distributed to date.
