Guatevision announcement results in cervical cancer prevention reaching millions!

Contributing to Corporate Social Responsibility, Guatevision, a Guatemalan cable network channel, is airing morning and evening public service announcements on cervical cancer prevention.  Cervical cancer is a leading cause of death among Guatemalan women.  Through a partnership with CATALYST, Guatevision and APROFAM, an IPPF affiliate, the collaborative relationship helps bring health awareness campaigns to the forefront of Guatemalan society.

CSR Activities in Egypt

In Egypt, the TAHSEEN/CATALYST Project is partnering with MultiPharma, a private Egyptian company acting as the sole distributor of Durex condoms, to raise public awareness of reproductive health issues.  In exchange for access to TAHSEEN clinic clients and target groups, Multipharma donates condoms free of charge and provides educational promotional materials on health awareness to TAHSEEN clinic clients and the Ask Consult Network, a network of private sector physicians and pharmacists.  Such a partnership contributes to contraceptive security and increase men’s involvement in family planning and reproductive health.

Multipharma’s role is to provide product orientation and health awareness training to male community health workers, agricultural and irrigation extension workers who will candidly speak to their male community members about the use of condoms as a family planning method. TAHSEEN’s role is to promote healthier reproductive and sexual health behaviors and provide access to contraceptives, including condoms, in its clinics.  TAHSEEN and Multipharma are supplying Freedom, an Egyptian HIV/AIDS-prevention NGO, with free condoms to distribute to HIV/AIDS sufferers and infected drug users in the Cairo underprivileged slum area of El-Dowieka.  In addition to condom donations, HIV/AIDS awareness activities, emphasizing safe marital sex and drug prevention, are provided to at-risk populations.
